Rainwater

For areas with-in the Town Reticulated Water Supply area.

Hervey Bay Requirements:-

Hervey Bay Planning Scheme requires the following for all new Buildings containing wet areas with-in the building:-

  • The on-site rainwater storage shall be installed in such a way that it receives the rainfall from a roof catchment area of at least 65% of the total roof area (with a minimum of 50m2)
  • Minimum 5000 litre rainwater tank to be installed unless a townhouse or unit where a minimum of 3000 litres is to be installed
  • The rainwater shall be used both internally and externally at the property. Rainwater shall be provided to the all WC's, cold water tap for the washing machine and one (1) external hose tap.
  • Installation of the rainwater tank as per the Queensland Development Code. Click Here
Maryborough Rainwater

Maryborough Requirements:-

Maryborough area requires the following for all new buildings:-

  • Single detached houses have a 5000 litre rainwater tank installed
  • Terrace houses and town houses have a 3000 litre rainwater tank installed
  • Water tanks to receive rainfall from at least one half of the roof catchment area or 100m2 whichever is the lesser.
  • Supply water to all external hose taps, WC's and to the cold water tap for the washing machine.
  • Installation of the rainwater tank as per the Queensland Development Code. Click Here

For all areas outside of the Town Reticulated Water supply areas, a minimum of 45000 litres of rainwater storage must be installed as per the Queensland Development Code.

Rainwater Designs must be drawn for new dwellings / buildings whether on Town Reticulated Water or Roof Catchment Only Water Supply.  Rainwater Designs are not required for extensions to existing buildings approved for construction before 01/01/2007
